WATERKLOOF CIRCUMSTANCE CHARDONNAY 2008
A modern-style Chardonnay with a sleek nose. Expressive lime, lemon and mandarin flavours and a toasty oak overlay balance perfectly with a satisfying mouth feel and
finish, which surely owes something to the natural wild yeast fermentation used to vinify all Waterkloof wines.
Restaurant pairing: Asparagus risotto with Parmesan foam.
CELLAR PRICE: R130
WATERKLOOF SAUVIGNON BLANC 2008
A serious Sauvignon Blanc after so many lean and green pretenders. With 25 percent of the grapes fermented in old 600-litre barrels and given long contact with the primary lees, this wine has wonderful weight, complexity and
a deep mineral core with melon and granadilla. It will develop beautifully with bottle maturation.
Restaurant pairing: Seared tuna steak in panko crumbs with tempura veg and tartare sauce.
CELLAR PRICE: R130
WATERKLOOF CIRCUMSTANCE MERLOT 2007
Winemaker, Werner Engelbrecht, credits Waterkloof’s cool climate for "slow ripening which imparts intense flavours,
complexity and finesse to the red varietals". This elegant, smooth Merlot, with succulent fruitiness, nuances of spice and layered, ripe blackberry and plum flavours, will last for at least another decade.
Restaurant pairing: Lamb shoulder confit and baby rack with spring vegetables and basil oil.
