What are you going to cook this year, and how are you going to do it? We keep abreast of the latest in culinary trends.

“A return to home cooking, growing use of online and mobile food applications, a local focus, diverse flavours and a trend toward ‘green' cooking and eating' are among the top food trends for right now.”

- Margot Janse

Table settings: blue and yellow

Evoke thoughts of the sun and sea with tableware in hues of yellow and blue. We offer a pair of table setting ideas utilising these complementary colours.

Blue and yellow match each other perfectly, with the rich azure tones offsetting the bright and lively yellows. Woolworths' new range of tableware includes a range of crockery in both hues, allowing one to mix, match and experiment as they see fit.

The food itself can also be used to create a more attractive table, such as in this usage of lemon peel to liven up some azure crockery. Bolder colours are ideal for a more striking evening dinner whilst the floral embellishment adds some character to the table.

Single letters can be used in place of name tags, particularly when attached to something to create a more unorthodox way of arranging your guests. Download the printable letters here.

For an easier, lighter table, this white tableware features delicate blue and yellow detailing. The floral patterns make for a playful, simple design ideal for afternoon tea or al fresco dining. Accessorise with microherbs and scissors for a fun new way to garnish your food.

Use these designs as inspiration to develop your own unique table-setting ideas and if you're particularly proud of your dinner table design send us a picture on twitter at @Tastyones.

All of this tableware, and much more like it, is available at Woolworths now.
