New gourmet salts

It’s the most ancient of condiments yet it continues to reinvent itself as the seasoning du jour.

Cooks’ Essentials chilli & lime flake sea salt
Formed through the natural evaporation of sea water, these salt crystals are infused with chilli and lime. Great rubbed into steaks or fish or sprinkled over warm potatoes, salads or pastas.

Gourmet black lava sea salt
Evaporated in pools naturally formed from lava flows and blended with purified volcanic charcoal, this salt – with its striking aroma, colour and smoky notes – is an exceptional option for sushi, steak, teriyaki chicken and tofu.

Himalayan crystal salt
Also known as pink salt, this unrefined whole-crystal salt, from ancient salt mines in the Himalayan foothills and is ideal for raw-food dishes and smoothies.

Kalahari crystal salt
T
his unprocessed inland desert salt is sun-dried and 100 percent pure. Use it slightly crushed as your daily salt or for baking meat in a crust.

Khoisan natural unrefined sea salt
Unprocessed and made using only the natural elements of sun, wind, sea and plants from the unpolluted Sandveld, this salt is packed with trace elements and minerals.

Kloovenburg Shiraz salt with Provençal herbs
Produced using the Riebeek Valley estate’s award-winning red wine, this Shiraz salt is flavoured with the aromatic herbs that flourish in the hills of southern France.

Organic herb salt
With finely blended herb dust and organic salt (the latter enhances the former hugely), this robust salt is most pleasing simply sprinkled on a sun-blushed tomato.

Rickety Bridge home-smoked sea salt flakes
Part of the fine-food offering from this Franschhoek-based wine estate, these flakes add flavour to sauces, roasts and hand-cut fries.

Shiraz sea salt
Infused with the beautiful ruby colour of a velvety Shiraz, this flavoured salt adds robust richness to pan-seared fillets, sweet roast vegetables and vinaigrettes.

Smoked chilli salt
Pan-fried dried chillies are blended with smoked sea salt crystals to add a punch of sweet heat to pastas, tomato tarts and even chocolate desserts.

Truffle salt
An irresistible blend of ground Italian black truffl e and sea salt, this salt is delicious scattered over scrambled eggs, omelettes or risottos.
