Loving seedless lemons

Imagine squeezing, slicing, zesting, juicing and peeling lemons without the constant hassle of hacking into seeds. That's what seedless lemons allow you to do!

You and your guests never have to bite into these bitter little blighters again. Woolworths is proud to offer you the world’s first truly seedless lemon variety, developed by South Africa’s own Agriculture Research Council.

Packed with vitamin C and boasting a relatively higher juice content than other lemons, the seasonal Eureka Seedless Lemons™ are available in stores from February to September.

Quick tricks with seedless lemons

Baked lemon

For a quirky snack, hollow out halved lemons and fill with dates wrapped in bacon. Add a sun-dried tomato to each and crumble goat’s-milk cheese on top. Bake in a preheated oven for 20 minutes.

Lemon, ginger and honey drink

For a soothing winter drink, combine seedless lemon juice, a dollop of honey, sliced fresh ginger, a cinnamon stick and hot water. Stir with a lemon-grass stick.

Roasted lemon onions

Drizzle baby onions with olive oil and roast for 15 minutes. Mix seedless lemon zest, brown sugar, white-wine vinegar, thyme or oregano leaves with olive oil and pour over the onions. Refrigerate for a day or two. Serve as a side dish to grilled fish.
