8 deliciously flaky, mini all-butter croissants
Traditional French style croissants with a flaky crust and a delicate, layered centre. Serve with a rich chocolate sauce that's quick and easy to make: Melt 100 g dark chocolate with 125 ml cream over boiling water until nicely mixed. Add chopped mixed nuts if you like and serve in a cream jug or small cup along with the warmed croissants. To prepare the croissants, simply remove them from outer the packaging and place in the centre of the oven (pre-heated to180ºC) for 2-4 minutes. Woolworths' delicious, handmade fresh ricotta
Woolworths' fresh ricotta is a traditional Italian cheese. It has a milk flower and a fine, granular, moist consistency. It is handmade from whey and ideal for cooking and baking. Sold in tubs of 250g for R16.95 Quick baked ricotta with honeyed prunes: Preheat the oven to 200 deg C. Bake one or two rounds of fresh ricotta on a baking tray for 15 to 20 minutes, or until slightly golden and warmed through. Chop 1 cup prunes into rough chunks and fold into 1/4 cup honey, along with1/2 t vanilla extract. Top the baked ricotta with the honey-drenched prunes and serve with Melba toast. Woolworths' bag of goodness
In 2004, when many of Cape Town's clothing factories closed their doors, Woolworths started the Isikhwama BEE initiative to provide employment for some of the workers affected. As part of the retailer's Good Business Journey, Isikhwama now employs over 80 people who produce these cheerful and downright good looking (not to mention sturdy enough to hold some heavy stuff), reusable shopping bags.
