Sports fanatics in the house? These finger-sized nibbles are perfect for snacking on while catching the game.
Fingerfoods are perfect for eating in front of the telly. Create a platter, or lay a mix and match from the following on the buffet, and let everyone help themselves.
PITAS AND FLATBREADS
Halve a few pita breads (available ready-made from Woollies) lengthways and grill until golden, drizzle over a little olive oil and scatter with sea salt and rosemary. Serve, stacked, with a garlicky hummus topped with a teaspoon or two of sticky-sweet onion marmalade.
TIP: Hummus is also available from Woolworths, or make your own regular, beetroot or avocado hummus
QUICK SAVOURY BITES
Buy a packet of ready-made puff pastry and make a variety of bite-sized tarts that can be filled with whatever you have in the fridge - from steamed spinach and asparagus, crunchy bacon bits, panblistered vine tomatoes, creamy goats’ cheese, smoked trout or pitted black olives.
With these, serve one or two of the following:
Chilli jam, warm brinjal dip, hot anchovy dip or Vietnamese dipping sauce
SOMETHING A BIT MORE SUBSTANTIAL
Mini curry bowls are filling and an all-round favourite. Especially if the Indians are playing! Or go for our cucumber and korma snack that's done in 5 minutes.
Another great option is chargrilled corn and ginger chicken parcels or Mexican tortillas filled with chicken, mango and chilli.
On the side, warmed loaves with Woolworths organic butter, olives, pickled artichoke hearts, ready-cooked prawns, assorted cheeses, crackers and warmed-through chippolatas with assorted condiments.
