Chef Stefan Otto of Hermanus shows them a thing or two at London's famous Bbar.
Curbing patriotic yearnings and giving Londoners a taste of local flavour, Hermanus-born Stefan Otto is the culinary force behind London’s popular Bbar, a mere protea’s throw from Buckingham Palace.
Having worked in France and England with a number of Michelin-star chefs, including Roger Vergé, Gordon Ramsay and Marcus Wareing, Stefan was snapped up by the South African-owned Red Carnation group to demonstrate his gastro-ingenuity in the company’s England-based luxury hotels and the brilliant Bbar.
The bar is playfully named after Bea Tollman, who, together with her daughters, is the creative force behind the hotel group, which includes local favourites Bushmans Kloof, The Twelve Apostles and The Oyster Box.

Homesick Saffas flock to Bbar for Stefan's bobotie spring rolls with Mrs Ball’s chutney, Windhoek-beer battered hake ‘n chips, boerewors with onion, Parmesan mash and red-wine jus, springbok fillet and Cape Malay curry.
Thanks, Stefan, for flying the flag!
